André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry was an opera composer from Liège. Later in life he acquired the French nationality and was eventually buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. However, his heart was sent back to Liège. It still lies inside a jar full of vinegar in the pedestal of his statue in front of the Royal Walloon Opera. This statue.
