More minty wonders

Continuing the minty theme I introduced a few days ago, I am happy to report that our mint has settled nicely into its new home and many more flowers have bloomed. Here it is, photographed with the St Jean church in the background. You can just make out my reflection in the window.

Officially sanctioned graffiti

This nautically themed graffiti was painted by the students of a secondary school on the facade of what used to be the city's public swimming pool. There are plans to renovate the building and turn it into a cultural centre. I suppose that the graffiti will disappear...

Water under the bridge

Different views of the water under the Kennedy bridge at night. The bridge lighting changes colour and is reflected on the water!

The coming of the storm

Stormy clouds hanging low over the roofs of Liège and the St Jean church. For many pictures of less gloomy skies you can visit the Skywatch Friday blog!

Mint flower

We've survived our move to our new apartment. It's been quite frantic and there was no time for photos so I am posting a picture I took a couple of days before moving. It's the flower of our mint plant on our old balcony. It's a bit more self-referential than usual but I didn't even know mint has flowers...

A view of the Kennedy bridge and the Meuse river by night, taken just before the 14th of July fireworks.

We're moving to our new flat tomorrow. If everything goes well I will post again soon!

Last sunset over the Galeries St Lambert

Today's Skywatch is my last before moving to a new apartment in Liège. This is probably the last photo I'll post of the sunset over the Galeries St Lambert, I captured it just a few minutes ago. We're moving on Monday; wish us luck!!

14 Juillet

Every year the city of Liège celebrates Bastille Day with fireworks. This year was no exception. Fifteen minutes of wonder on the Meuse!

More Espagna!

Another couple of photos from yesterday's spanish celebrations. Hundreds of cars came streaming into the city centre hooting their horns and waving their flags.

Espagna!

The Liège spanish community came out in force tonight to celebrate Spain's World Cup win. They'll probably stay out all night, waving their flags and blowing their vuvuzelas.

La batte

La batte is the famous Liège Sunday market, consisting of hundreds of stalls with tents snaking their way along the riverside. The photo is spoiled by the building of the Cité Administrative right in the middle, a building I love to hate.

Saint Pholien

Here's a photo of the church of Saint Pholien in Outremeuse. It could do with a nice cleaning but it's a very impressive church nonetheless.

It's been a while since I posted any graffiti pics. Starting today I will be doing a graffiti mini series. Here's the first one on Rue Leopold.
