This is the legendary steelworks of Cockerill-Sambre in Seraing, just outside Liège. The company was founded in the late 18th century by an english industrialist who emigrated to Liège. He kick-started the industrial revolution in the area and soon the Liège valley became the second largest industrial area in the world after Manchester. The company's glory days are well in the past, it is now part of ArcelorMittal.

These are quite good, these photographs of techno/architectural scaffold. The silhouette against the sky, the smoke, the sky itself all combine to leave a rather eerie impression.
Ah... history! Great photos to remember a great past.
