Crash simulator
The local police installed this crash simulator in the Ilot Saint Michel in central Liège yesterday. It simulates a vehicle hitting an obstacle at 10km/h (6mph). I didn't see it working though, I would have liked having a go. A fairground ride paid for by police, it would have been a first for me.

Big wisp of smoke
This cloud of smoke Rose up behind the hills this afternoon. It probably came from the steelworks in Seraing.

The day when ice and water fell from the sky
And there were floods aplenty and much humidity and basements got inundated and frantic phone calls were made to the emergency services. It was yesterday.

Wolf, eagle, two chiefs
On Sunday there was a flee market in Outremeuse. These two lovely objects really tickled my fancy. The perfect complement to your Three Wolf Moon t-shirt.

Diving is always underwater
Here's some action shots! A strut fell off the footbridge into the Meuse today. We happened to pass by the moment a maintenance team arrived to rake it out. Two people dived while another five (and later seven) looked on.
Then the divers unhooked the strut from a cable that was preventing it from sinking.
Finally, they tied a rope to it and the dry members of the team pulled it out. Job's a good'un.

Planeless skies
Bright blue skies and not a single airplane contrail. I like contrails, the sky looks empty without them...

J'y suis, j'y reste
Here I am, here I'll stay! It's a banner hung outside some of the buildings near the new train station that are marked for demolition. The city council and the architect want to create an enormous tree-lined, water-featured esplanade that will lead directly from the station's entrance to the riverbank. This project, however, requires the demolition of a number of buildings, some of which are private residences. You can imagine that the residents are none too happy.

United colors of prudishness
The summer sales have been on for a few days now and it seems that Benetton have run out of clothes to dress their mannequins. However, the company is very in touch with peoples' sensibilities and they decided to cover up the naughty bits with plastic bags. How proper...
Even the male mannequins have had their decency preserved.
