New office blocks

The new office blocks that will house the courts of justice among other things. The architects have made an effort to build them in a style compatible with the rest of the city centre. In my opinion they look like cardboard facades or a film set. Compared to the Palace of the Bishop Princes next door they are just cheap...

Modern copies seem quite the fashion at the moment, but I agree with you - they don't quite work. Still, perhaps it's better than 1970's brutalism.

I don't know, Greg. Maybe it's the light but these look wonderful to me. And Linda's right. Considering how many really horrible choices might have been made architecturally, perhaps you could put your opinion of these in a different perspective.

I saw these in person and these are pretty poor compared to the rest of the architecture around the area. The skills to recreate the facades so still exist. The Chinese are going through a rash of copying European 17th/18th century designs on a large scales, which means the skills would be found there. There was some opposition to these new buildings, and sadly, these blocked out the view from Pierreuse behind it.
