Rectangular, tall and shiny

The problem with buildings like these is that you can't call them modern any more. They were modern 30-40 years ago, now they are seen as an embarrassment. However, it's all a matter of lighting. Find a large and bright enough yellow-orange light bulb and even 70s high-rise towers become blogworthy.

Lieutenant Général Bertrand

The statue of Lieutenant General Bertrand in Outremeuse near the Pont d'Amercoeur. I couldn't find a lot of information on him, except that he was commander of the 3rd Belgian Army Division from 1914 to 1915. He was also one of the officers who led the Liège defense against the German attack. It did not last very long but it is viewed as a heroic defeat.

Red (hot) chilli peppers

A couple of friends who visited Liège last week were very impressed with the quantity and quality of spices available at the Batte sunday market. So much so that they even went and photographed the red chillis.

No, it's not Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland, it's the Grand Poste of Liège in the sunset.
