Two more photos from the event I blogged about yesterday.

Anti-hate
These striking dummies were installed in the Place Saint Lambert over the weekend as part of an anti-hate event. Actually, I could not understand exactly what the event was about. The banner reads 'It is said that war annihilates the weak but peace does the same thing. By responding to hate we only propagate it', paraphrasing a quote by Bertolt Brecht. If any one can work this out please let me know.

Eglise St-Antoine et Ste-Catherine
This is the front of the St Anthony and St Catherine church, carefully hidden between the riverside and the Place du Marché. One day I must take some photos of the interior.

Place St Etienne
A view of the St Etienne square from inside the Galeries Saint Lambert shopping centre. I took the photo during the Wallonia Festival, hence the stage in the middle of the square.

Hyde Park Corner
An authentic no 10 bus from London, parked in front of the Palais des Princes Evêques. I took this photo during the Wallonia Festival but I've seen the bus several times over the last year or so.

Calatrava Expo II
A couple more shots from the Calatrava Expo. First up, a model of the Liège train station.
And this is a model of the train station he designed for the city of Mons.

Calatrava Expo
We finally decided to visit the Calatrava Expo at the Grand Curtius, one week before the end. It features numerous sculptures and paintings, as well as models and photos of some of his buildings. The exhibition's catalogue is entitled 'Sculpitectures'. I took some photos, even though it was prohibited.

Fêtes de Wallonie 2
Today is the last day of the Wallonia Festival. One of the events was the traditional parade by various folklore and heritage associations. Here's a few pictures.

Fêtes de Wallonie
The Wallonia Festival is taking place this weekend, with events, concerts and parades all over the region. One of the events organised in Liège is a series of open air concerts in Place Saint Lambert. A large stage has been set up and numerous artists are plying their trade.
I caught the end of the 'Greatest Classic Hits' concert. The musicians were just getting up.

Changeable weather
The sky has been like this all week. Impossible to tell if it will be raining in 2 minutes. Check out some more celestially-themed photos on the Skywatch blog.

Eglise Saint Jean
A sunny view of the church of Saint Jean. Like many churches in Liège, it's an architectural mishmash but quite impressive.

Ivory Tower
It's not a tower and it's certainly not made of ivory, it's the administration building of the University of Liège in the sunshine.
And here's a zoom on some of the giants of science and the letters immortalised as statues on the roof.

Sunny Saturday
When you keep complaining you finally get what you want. I got a gloriously sunny day with a deep blue sky! Here's a sun-drenched photo of a building on the Rue du Pont d'Ile that probably used to be a theatre or a cinema. It is now a clothes store.
And here's some closeups of the gargoyles.

Holiday Skywatch
As the local weather does not permit any kind of Skywatching (see previous post), I am posting a sunset shot from my recent holiday in Greece. Wish I was there...

La rentrée
I've been back in Liège since Monday but I haven't felt up to going out and taking photos yet. Pathologically autumnal weather is only one of the reasons. The other one is reluctance to get back into some kind of rhythm. So I've taken a couple of photos from my window. They demonstrate clearly reason number 1.
