Here's one more
I am sticking to my building detail theme. Here's an art deco head that I photographed before from the side.

More gargoyles
Another decoration above a building entrance, this one with a clear Gutenberg theme. The female heads look very sad.

Gargoyle
Many residential buildings in Liege have decoration over the entrance in Art Deco style. They range from the weird to the beautiful. I think that this one is quite scary, despite the flowers and butterflies.

Philosophia, Litterae, Historia
I took advantage of the carnival holidays to go to Paris for a few days, hence my lack of updates since Friday. To make amends for it, today I am posting three pictures. They are reliefs of Philosophy, Literature and History, to be found on the side of the main University building in Place du 20 Août.

La Meuse by dusk
A shot of the river Meuse at dusk. The photo was taken from the Pont Kennedy and we can see the next bridge, the Pont de Fragnée. Outremeuse is on the left, the Marina on the right. The Basilique de Cointe dominates the hill in the background and the moon looks down on everything.

St Martin
Recently I posted a couple of pictures of St Martin's church. Here's a shot of St Martin himself standing on the roof of his church and blessing the crowds walking and driving up and down the Boulevard de la Sauvenière.
Today I am very happy because my blog was given an award by m_m from Nowy Sacz Daily Photo. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I now have to choose seven of the blogs I like to transmit this award. This is always a very difficult task because I love many blogs and they all deserve awards. I have decided to nominate blogs that are not displaying already this particular award and to which I have not transmitted any awards yet. So here is the list:

250th post
This is my 250th post so here's a suitably shiny photo. It's the altar from the Eglise Saint Martin on a sunny day. Notice the rather cheap looking cardboard panels on the side, describing the features of the stained glass.

Like a dog in a jewelry shop
It's only an engagement ring, just pick one, they're all the same. I am bored.
(I spotted this dog in a city centre shop window, it looked cosy and miserable at the same time.)

Purple Skywatch
It seems that people don't like photos of insects... Oh well, now I know. Here's the moon posing in the middle of a purple Skywatch! You can drool at many more Skywatch Friday photos here.

The birds and the bees
Slight change of subject today. From cats to some kind of beetle. These two are doing the beast with two backs...

Power nap
Liège cats seem to like hanging out on their windowsills. Here's a ginger one in full power nap mode!

White Cat
I just realized it's been ages since a posted a cat picture. I shall make up for it, I promise. Here's a gorgeous white Liège kitty quietly contemplating the world passing by his windowsill.

Skywatch Friday
The cock and cross on the spire of St Martin's church as an excuse for posting a Skywatch photo. Gorge yourself on Skywatch pics at http://skyley.blogspot.com/.

The snow is back
We got more snow this week, just to add to the tons of snow we've had this winter. And to think that last winter I was complaining that we didn't see enough snow...
Here's a typical view of Liège in the snow. I am not sure what the pigeon in the top left corner was doing flying in this weather...

The founder of Liège
Here is a statue of Notger, the founder of modern day Liège. The inscription reads: Liège, you owe Notger to Christ and everything else to Notger. The statue is in the courtyard of St Jean.

Eglise Saint Jean
A shot of the interior of St John's church, taken from the organ balcony. I just love the floor pattern.

La Chauve Souris
La Chauve Souris (the Bat) by Johann Strauss was on show at the Royal Walloon Opera until a couple of weeks ago. It's now been replaced by Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss. The composer's surname remains unchanged... In the foreground you can see typical rush hour traffic in the Place de l'Opéra.
